The writing of this book really pulls you in. The details are beautiful, and they are all needed. I think part of the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because it is sooooo long. Here's what I mean by that: most stories have an overall arc, with a beginning, middle and end. This book? It has a beginning. Yep, that's it. You're cut off in the rising action. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, since I'm definitely going to be picking up the next one. But (partly since I was deliriously sick while reading this book) the length of it is making me wait a little bit before I pick up the next one since I'm just not sure if I can devote that much time to it yet.
